We got really great and quick service when we urgently needed credit cards for our trip to the US in September of this year. Got the RBC British Airways VISA card mainly for the bonus AVIOS Points.
Got the RBC British Airways VISA card mainly for the bonus AVIOS Points. The card says you get 2 AVIOS points per $ spent when dining out. But they don't mention it all depends on how VISA categorizes the place. No matter how much proof you show or how many times you complain, they just won't help. In July & August, I spent $2165.26 at 4 restaurants, which should have given me close to 4330 AVIOS points. Instead, they labeled 3 restaurants as "Groceries" and 1 as "Travel." How is that even possible? They just blame VISA and say nothing can be done. If I'd known, I would NEVER have used this card for such pricey meals. My AMEX Platinum would have been so much better for rewards. Plus, this RBC BA VISA has a $165 annual fee. It's a total ripoff and RBC does NOTHING to assist. I'm furious.

I've been banking with RBC for a few years now, and man, it's been a rough ride. Picture this: whenever I need help, I have to sit through a ridiculous 3-hour phone wait. But if you dial their sales line? Boom, someone answers in a flash. It's like they care more about snagging new customers than actually helping the ones they've got. Their online banking? Total throwback to the early 2000s. It's slow, clunky, and missing so many features you'd expect from a modern bank. I mean, come on, it's 2024! The fees are another story—super high for what you get. You’d think with those fees, they’d have top-notch service. Nope, not even close. If you're thinking about RBC, I'd seriously look somewhere else. Unless you’re into waiting forever on the phone and shelling out big bucks for not-so-great service, steer clear. Save yourself the hassle and find a bank that actually values its customers.

I moved from Congo with all my savings, hoping to build a secure future here. I invested $50,000 in an RRSP, thinking it was a safe bet. But three months later, when I needed to withdraw some money, they told me I couldn't. I was in a tight spot and they suggested a credit line instead. Desperate, I took it because I needed to send money to my parents back home. But then they blocked my transfer. I spent a week going back and forth with the bank manager, trying to sort things out. Finally, they told me the credit line wasn't available anymore. Now, I have no money and no way to help my family. I'm beyond frustrated and feel utterly helpless. This has been the worst financial decision I’ve ever made.

Awful experience with customer service.
Awful experience with customer service. After six tries, I finally reached a rep. Before that, I kept getting disconnected. This is not a small business; it's a large company. Your system is clunky and unhelpful. RBC needs to sort out a better system and not cause people stress. I'm on vacation in Turkey but live in Canada. I’ll wait until I'm back in Canada to hopefully get this sorted. So annoyed.
