A while back, Macy's shut down my account without a heads-up because I didn't use it much. Despite the online account lingering, I decided to give Macy's another shot after avoiding it for years due to their subpar procedures. I opened a new account, made a purchase, and got the bill. Trying to pay online hit a snag, claiming I already had an account. The first person I spoke to didn't grasp the issue, and we ended up going in circles. Eventually, she shuffled me to another person who, after numerous holds, promised a code for a refresh. Instead, he sent permission for texts and ads, then insisted on mailing a letter. After two frustrating hours, I gave up. Seeking a supervisor, I waited a while only to be told nothing could be done. I declared I was canceling my account, bid farewell, and thought I hung up, but the supervisor lingered silently on the line. My husband advised leaving the account open but unused. As I contemplated using another credit card, a voice chimed in, "I am still here, and yes, you can use another credit card," in an overly cheerful manner. Unimpressed with their lack of assistance and the sneaky tactic, I vowed never to set foot in Macy's again. I settled my bill with the first customer service rep and have no interest in Macy's or their credit card anymore.
