This past year with Summer from Commit Action has been quite life-changing. Over the last 12 months, she has been a great source of help and advice as I relaunched my business. Downtime - I like the focus on downtime and recovery. We tend to see ourselves as productivity machines instead of humans. I appreciate the lessening of rituals and productivity and the focus on figuring out what matters. From strategic planning to staying accountable, Summer has a unique way of helping me stay on course without feeling swamped. Her approach is practical, insightful, and tailored to my unique business needs. Each session with her feels like a breakthrough, providing me with clear steps and the motivation to keep moving forward. The program, which I envisioned as deeply personal and motivating, failed to align with my expectations. Impersonal Communication: A notable drawback was the impersonal nature of communication within the program. The reliance on phone calls with an unfamiliar coach, devoid of visual interaction as seen on platforms like Zoom or FaceTime, contributed to a sense of detachment and diminished engagement for me. Lack of Motivation: Despite the coach's professionalism and kindness, the program fell short in generating the level of motivation I sought. Surprisingly, I found more inspiration from freely available YouTube videos and podcasts, which proved to be more effective for my motivational needs. Questioning the Value: Reflecting on the experience, I realized that the goals set with the program mirrored what I could achieve through casual conversations with friends. This raised doubts about the overall value of paying for such a service when comparable goals could be independently set each week. Concluding Thoughts: While 'Commit to Action' may benefit some, it did not meet my specific needs and expectations. The lack of personal interaction was disappointing, but more significantly, the program's inadequacy became apparent. The discovery that similar results could be achieved independently made the financial investment seem unjustifiable, leaving me with a sense of wasted money. However, the most significant revelation from this accountability course is the understanding that I am capable of self-managing my tasks, potentially even more effectively than initially believed. This realization, spurred by unexpected motivation stemming from a perceived lack of visible benefits, became a key motivator. The thought of saving money by not relying on an accountability service and redirecting it towards more effective resources further fueled this sense of regret, evolving into a powerful driving force. Consequently, I now meticulously plan my week and consistently track my progress, leading to newfound self-reliance and enhanced productivity—outcomes not explicitly aimed for by the course but undoubtedly the most impactful ones, enabling me to accomplish more.
